Safe Way Right Way Uganda is an NGO focussed on improving road safety and is a result of a collaboration between the World Bank’s ‘Global Road Safety Partnerships’ and Total to improve road safety on Uganda’s economically critical highways. This collaboration is called the ‘African Road Safety Corridor Initiative’. The African Road Safety Corridors Initiative (ARSCI) is a ‘UN Global Decade of Action for Road safety 2011 - 2020’ Initiative . The pilot corridors are 2 cross border highways which are among the most dangerous on the continent. These are the Mombasa – Nairobi – Kampala – Kigali – Bujumbura corridor (Northern Corridor) and the Central Africa Corridor through Cameroon, Chad and Central Africa. In Uganda, the project has leveraged support from leading companies in the private sector including Bollore Transport and Logistics, Total Uganda Ltd, Total E&P, Toyota Ltd, Hima cement, CNOOC, Ernst and Young ,GP Advocates, GIZ (German Development cooperation ) and the Global Road Safety Facility .
